CMA CGM Bolsters Egypt Presence with October Dry Port Stake

Strategic Move Amid Presidential Visit
French shipping giant CMA CGM has acquired a 35% stake in Egypt’s October Dry Port, a key logistics hub operated by Elsewedy Electric since 2023. The announcement coincided with French President Emmanuel Macron’s diplomatic visit to Egypt, underscoring the deal’s strategic significance.

Expanding Egypt’s Logistics Network

The dry port—integrated with all Egyptian seaports—enhances CMA CGM’s existing assets in the country, including:

  • Tahya Misr Container Terminal (Alexandria Port)

  • New Sokhna Terminal (set to open in 2025)

CMA CGM will become an active operational partner, leveraging its expertise in inland terminals to improve cost efficiency and reliability for clients.
