Three Major Shipping Lines Announce

Publish Time: 2025-10-16     Origin: Site

After the National Day Holiday, shipping lines have launched a wave of freight rate increases. On the 10th, the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) rebounded by 4.12% after a decline, ending a four-consecutive-day drop. The Europe route led the gain by nearly $100, with many routes following suit, which also drove the supply chain to shift toward emerging ports of call.

Currently, freight rates for Europe-US routes have bottomed out. To prop up freight rates, shipping lines have stepped up blank sailings and called for rate hikes, with the Europe route being the top target for increases. Shipping lines plan to raise freight rates for US-Europe routes in the middle of this month: the rate for each 40-foot container (FEU) on the US West Coast and Europe routes is expected to rise to around $2,000, while that on the US East Coast routes is expected to climb to around $3,000. The actual rate increase remains to be seen.

Recently, multiple shipping lines have announced rate hikes on the 15th. Freight forwarders stated that there is a chance of rate increases when flight frequencies are reduced in the middle of the month, but the magnitude of the increase and the duration of the market trend will become clear next week.
